Welcome to FINS, a Café & Surf School located in the heart of Newquay, Cornwall. At FINS, we believe in creating a space where everyone gets to experience local living, connected to the ocean and to the community. Whether you're here for the waves, the food, or just the good vibes, welcome to the FINS family.

FAQ

Do I have to pay in advance?

Yes, full payment will be required to be paid in advance of you scheduled lesson. You will be able to do this through your booking account. Unfortunately cash payments on the day will not be accepted.

Is there parking nearby?

Yes, there are multiple public carparks nearby. Search for the Belmont Long stay car park, TR7 1HG or the Dane Road Council Carpark, TR7 1HL. These are both within a two minute walk from our facilities.

Are surfboards and wetsuits included?

Yes, the price includes a board and wetsuit for the duration of your lesson.

What if I don't want to book online?

All bookings have to be made via our booking system. If you require further assistance with this feel free to come in and speak to a member of the FINS team.

I'd like to organise a large group booking?

For large group bookings please email contact@finsnewquay.co.uk.

What is your refund policy?

4 weeks or more from the lesson date: Full refund, minus a £5 booking fee.

2–3 weeks before the lesson date: 50% refund, minus a £5 booking fee.

Less than 2 weeks before the lesson date: No refund, only a credit note offered for future lessons.

Less than 48 hours' notice: No refund, no credit note.

Can I change my booking?

Please see our refund policy on the FINS website. We understand plans change so when possible we will make every effort to help you reschedule.

What happens is there are bad weather/surf conditions?

In the case of circumstances beyond our control (such as extreme weather, natural disasters, government-imposed restrictions or valid emergencies), we will offer a full refund or reschedule the lesson, subject to availability.

Please note this is only applicable if the decisions to cancel is made by a member of the FINS team (please see our terms and conditions for more detaisl)

What is the minimum age to participate in a lesson?

We welcome participants from the age of 8 years upwards. All under 18s must have a parent or guardian sign their disclaimer before participation. Additionally in groups lessons participants aged 8 to 12 years must have a parent or guardian join them in the water. If the parent/guardian does not wish to join the lesson we can provide them with a wetsuit as you must enter the water with their child for the duration of the lesson.

If I have a medical condition can I still take part?

Please get in contact with a member of the FINS team if you have any questions regarding health issues and surfing. Please note that all participants must be able to maintain their head above water unaided for at least 50 metres. All customers must sign a declaration confirming they can swim this distance.

Can I use the equipment after my lesson?

No, after your lessons we ask you return to FINS with your instructor. From FINS we can arrange further equipment hire.

Do I need to be able to swim to learn to surf?

Yes, participants in lessons must confirm they can maintain their head above water unaided for at least 50 metres. All customers must sign a declaration confirming they can swim this distance.
